Introducing R.E.A.D.
Reading Education Assistance Dogs
R.E.A.D., developed by Intermountain Therapy Animals, is an
inexpensive, effective and fun way to improve children's reading skills through the assistance of certified
therapy animal teams as literacy mentors.
Animals can be ideal reading companions because they help increase relaxation and lower blood pressure. Unlike
peers, animals are attentive listeners; they don't judge or criticize, so children are more comfortable and
inclined to forget about their own fears. The R.E.A.D. program has garnered attention from The Wall Street Journal,
ABC World News Tonight, Family Circle and other national publications.
ITA has prepared a training manual that will allow individuals and therapy groups to organize a R.E.A.D.
program at schools and/or libraries in their communities. We are keenly aware of the budget restrictions facing
educators today so, thanks to a generous grant from the Bernard and Audre Rapoport Foundation, we are pleased to be
able to offer our R.E.A.D. manual at the lowest possible price. You'll get all the information you'll need to
get started, including material templates. Here is just some of what you'll receive for only ...
$50 including shipping & handling for U.S. orders. (For international shipping
rates, contact Melissa in the ITA office.
